Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Counterterrorism Threat Prevention and Law Enforcement, U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Casie Antalis is a true homeland security trailblazer, with a unique background and extensive experience in fusing law enforcement, intelligence, the watchlisting and screening community, and emerging tech to counter terrorists and transnational organized crime and emerging threats against the United States.  Currently serving as the Department of Homeland Security’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for DHS’s Office of Counterterrorism Threat Prevention and Law Enforcement, Casie leads the Department’s efforts to develop and implement strategic and innovative policies to support DHS’ important homeland security mission on topics ranging from counterterrorism, transnational organized crime, aviation security, countering the illicit use of unmanned aerial systems, and screening and vetting operations and policy.  Information sharing and identity management are at the heart of this work and Casie’s experience working for the National Counterterrorism Center and as Director for Security Screening and Vetting on the Border and Transportation Security Directorate at the National Security Council makes her a unicorn in her field.  Because of her diverse array of experience and technical expertise, it also made her the right person at the right time to help with the creation of the National Vetting Center (NVC) in 2018, serving as its first chief of staff.  Prior to her current role at the Department of Homeland Security, Casie has served as the Department’s Deputy Assistant Secretary for Screening and Vetting in the Office of Strategy Policy and Plans, and as Secretary Mayorkas’ National Security Counselor.  She has also worked at the National Ground Intelligence Center, the National Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Department of State Diplomatic Security Service.  Casie has received numerous awards throughout her career, including the National Security Council’s Outstanding Service Award, the National intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation, the CIA’s Meritorious Unit Citation, and the DHS Secretary’s Award.
