Director, Homeland Security Programs at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Ryan R. Eddy is setting the standard ablaze as Director for Homeland Security Programs at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he oversees nearly $80M in annual research programs across 50 national security projects. His fire for innovation and strategic leadership in areas such as explosives detection, nuclear security, and cybersecurity has made him a key player in supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s mission and bridging the need for science-based decision-making.

Ryan’s work advances the frontiers of knowledge, taking on some of the world’s greatest science and technology challenges. He forwards PNNL’s research capabilities and findings to support combatting weapons of mass destruction, safe use of nuclear materials, threat analysis, and other areas of expertise to secure our nation’s critical infrastructure, combat global terrorism, and detect concealed threats and explosives.

HIs work managing and expanding the use of PNNL’s scientific discovery and capabilities throughout DHS and other agencies is enabling stronger, more resilient technologies and systems to safeguard national security. Coupled with decades of radiological and nuclear materials expertise, advanced computing and threat analysis capabilities, PNNL is applying science-based solutions to unlock and block emerging threats that have significant impact at home and around the globe.

Ryan’s leadership ignites successful program development strategies and forwards the crucial international and domestic programs and policies that will ultimately help us avert a catastrophic event.
